New member from Long Island, NY

Hello all!

My name is Bethany and I am a lifelong Long Island resident, living with my husband and 4 year old daughter. I have been reading the BP forums and various investing books over the last couple of months. I had my real estate liscense years ago, so I have a bit of background knowledge, which I am hoping will be helpful. I’m interested in buy and hold properties.

As everyone knows, NY housing prices and taxes make investing on Long Island cost prohibitive. I have been doing lots of research on Turnkey properties. I know that you pay a premium for them, but the idea that everything is already done and will be managed by an in-house PM is very appealing, especially being that I am in the process of starting a new business unrelated to real estate which will take up a lot of my time. Our goal is build a portfolio of cash flowing properties that we will hold long term for retirement income. At almost 40, I feel a bit late to the game, but better late then never right?

I look forward to continue reading and learning from the BP site, which has already been an amazing wealth of knowledge for me.  I would also be interested in connecting with others local to Long Island, and anyone that has purchased turnkey properties out of state.

Bethany
