Newbie Hoping to Buy and Hold Properties, but Zero Credit...

Kurt Scholtes
Posted

Hello Everyone,

It's great to meet you all here. My name is Kurt and I'm an American who's been living in Asia for the last 17 years, basically my whole adult life after college, so I have zero credit in America. My goal now is to save $30,000 to start investing in real estate. My question is: should I move back to America ASAP to start working there in order to establish credit (I also have never had a credit card), or do you think I can do long-distance investing and eventually get a loan from a credit union - maybe an FHA loan - when the time comes? I'm not getting any younger, so if I am to start working in America, it seems like now or never, but it would be a big lifestyle change.
