Hi BP!
My name is Jose Jusino and I've been a fan of this site for quite some time now. I've been lurking here and there for the last few months (maybe years?) and trying to learn but I've never put it into action. Trying to change that now!
A little bit about myself, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a family that lived off of public assistance. I was the first in my family to attend college, first to graduate from college, first to even get a salaried job so I would consider myself to be pretty determined but I have not been the most successful. One of my uncles owned some real estate. He owned 3 multi family properties (13 units in total) and he was always around! I was always intrigued by the fact that he didn't have to go away for work. He owned his properties, which allowed him to live a comfortable life, which allowed him time with his family, and thats all that he ever wanted and needed. I admired him and wanted to get into real estate from an early age so that when I get older, I can spend time with my family as well. I figured he would be my mentor when I got old enough but then he passed away when I was 15 and I never got a chance to learn about the business from him like I had hoped. This is what led me to learn through research online but oh lord is it difficult!
With so many different options to learn from, and each teaching a different strategy and talking about how the other strategy will not work, I felt paralyzed. Not to mention, my social anxiety doesn't help in this field that requires constant communication.
Recently, due to gentrification in Brooklyn, I was forced out of my home in New York. I now live in a small town in Northern New Jersey and after months of internal debate, I think its time.
I'm here on BP to learn about real estate (specifically Rental Properties), to meet new people, and to have a chance to live the life that I dreamed of when I was a kid going to baseball games with my uncle on a weekday because he didn't have to be stuck in an office for work.
I'm excited to be here!

I do buy and hold investing for cash flow, but only you can pick what path you’re most comfortable with.
I agree. I was actually looking into BRRRR in New Jersey. Still trying to learn a bit more before I actually jump in there though
