Darin Gordon Introduction

Hi everyone,

My name is Darin Gordon, I am 21 years old and I live in Pennsylvania. I am currently a junior in college studying mechanical engineering. I also play on my college’s collegiate basketball team.

As part of my degree I have to complete three semester long internships which consist of me working 40 hour work weeks instead of taking classes. One thing that I have learned from my internships is that I do not want to work 8 to 9 hour days in an office. I want to have control over my work schedule and take control of my life. I want to earn my financial freedom.

Over the past month I have been doing a lot of research on real estate investment. I have read books such as “Think and Grow Rich” and “How to Invest in Real Estate”. My initial interest has quickly become an obsession.

After reading about multiple investing strategies and niches I have narrowed down the options. I have a few possible plans but I am wondering which ones would be best for my current situation. I plan to complete my degree which will leave me graduating in August of 2020. I currently have very little money in my bank account due to the fact that my schedules of classes and basketball leave me with very little free time. My girlfriend and I have been talking about moving down South to the Carolinas or Florida following my graduation.

As of now I believe I want to focus on using lease options on single family homes or investing in vacation rentals. One other possible investment I have in mind is house hacking a duplex for a few years. This would allow my girlfriend and I to live (hopefully) for free so that I can focus on expanding my investment portfolio. Once I have reached a place where I am comfortable buying a larger home I will then rent out the entire duplex.

My questions to anyone who is willing to provide me with some guidance are...

- In my current situation what strategy and niche would allow my to get off to the best start?

and

- What steps should I be taking now?

Thank you guys for your time and help!
