Multi Family Homes Or Duplex, Triplex, 4 plex

Ashland Bishop
Posted

Hello! My name is Ashland Bishop, a retired Veteran who served in the Army. I am getting my feet wet in learning how to invest and kind of ready to buy in a year or two. If something comes up very appealing then maybe sooner than later. Basically, I am tired of throwing my money away by renting. In just 3 years I have flushed $28000 down the toilet. It only makes sense for me to take out a VA loan and buy a duplex or triplex that pays my mortgage. I want to live in one of the units. Where are there good places to look to buy. Should I contact a real estate agent? I would think around colleges would be really good? Any suggestions I would appreciate it!

I am a 20 yr vet and have never used my VA loan. Only good if you have no money down to put down. Where do you live? Consider a duplex in your community, that would be a good starting point. But learn as much as you can on this website. Try to meet other investors and find a mentor if possible. But a mentor who is not going to sell you a program but someone who would share his or her experienced over a free cup of coffee or lunch. Good luck.

P. S. I also agree quit wasting money on rent.
