Newbie in Bloomington MN looking to start there or Appleton WI
Hello all, my name is Jason Snell and I currently live in Bloomington MN. I am a new investor looking to get started. I found bigger pockets a while ago while looking for more information about financial freedom and how to achieve it. I am finally going to get out of my own way and have decided to start taking action. I am starting by making my new member intro here.
A little about me. I graduated college with a degree in manufacturing engineering in the fall of 2016. After graduation I moved to the greater Minneapolis MN area for a job as an engineer. I quickly learned that engineering isn't what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I found myself falling for a new career path, the path of investing and business. Which I believe is my path to financial freedom. For graduation I received Tony Robbins's book, Money Master the Game, which is the book that opened my eyes to the fact that I didn't want to be in a cubical all my life adhering to the 9-5 and making money for others. After finishing that book, I quickly found myself looking for more knowledge in the investing realm. I then stumbled upon bigger pockets in my research and instantly knew i had found my calling. I left my job as an engineer in the spring of 2018 and started a career in sales where I travel the country on a weekly basis, I'm generally home on Sundays and Mondays. For the past few years I have been reading books, listening to podcasts, and learning as much as I can about real estate investing but have now hit the point where I need to turn knowledge into real action.
I have yet to make my first investment but have put together an idea for a path I would like to follow. I would love to start investing in Minneapolis MN and the surrounding areas but am a bit uncomfortable with my knowledge of the market. I would like to begin with a flip in the Appleton WI area. The plan would be to do a few flips to gain knowledge and capitol and then go into rentals using the BRRRR strategy. At this time, I would love to learn what I could do to earn the right to have a sit down and coffee with current investors in my area or the Appleton WI area.
I would also love recommendations for great real estate meet ups in the Minneapolis area to network and meet some awesome likeminded people!
