Adam Best, Portland, OR. Newbie Alert!
My name is Adam and I'm a Portland native. I've been interested in real estate for some time now, and was only recently introduced to BP. In the last month I've been powering through some of the podcasts with titles that seemed to really peak my interest. My plan is to start at the beginning and listen to them all in my 'mobile university'.
I'm not an avid reader, but looking to change that and have already started. About one-third through 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' and am thoroughly enjoying the additional education of an already known concept, at least on the surface. It is good though to have a more thorough grasp and understanding of the difference between an asset and liability. The story portion of this lesson sure makes for a much more fun read.
I'm mostly interested in the buy and hold strategy, but who knows. This is a new adventure and passion. Huge thanks to the creators and contributors to this site.

Welcome, Adam! I am from Portland and recently starting out myself, I have everything lined up to pull the trigger just looking for a deal now.
As soon as I decided to get active on the forums and start following bigger pockets it really jump-started my journey. The people that I have met and connected with have been very valuable in my education and make this concept of REI not so scary.
Since you are starting to become more of a reader I would recommend picking up Josh and Brandon's new book "How To Invest In Real Estate". It's a great read and has a lot of information packed in there.
