New Investor from Southern Maryland

Hello BP community!  I’m Steve, born and raised in southern Maryland near the Chesapeake Bay.  I’m an cyber security guy by day, and my wife and I are expecting our first child in February…we couldn’t be more excited!

I’ve been listening to the BP podcast for about a year and a half now, have read a few books, and gone to a few local investor meetups.  For the past couple years, my wife and I have been paying down some debt and saving to get invested.  The time has come where we are in a position to get started.  I realized that I have neglected the most important part of real estate investing, connecting with other investors, and am here to change that!  I know that I still have a lot to learn and will be working hard know to gain the knowledge and build relationships that will help me and others to achieve our goals.

I plan to invest in SFH or small multi-family using the BRRRR strategy. Real estate in this area is pretty expensive, which is great for flippers, but it's tough to make a good BRRRR deal so my plan is to invest out-of-town. Big thanks to David Greene for his book, as that opened my eyes to how realistic success can be.I still have to determine which market I'd like to work in. So far I'm looking at Cincinnati, because that's where my family is and it's a great city, but also Oklahoma City, Tampa, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee seem attractive as well. If you have any insight on these or any others please share!

I’ll be asking a lot of questions, and hopefully providing some helpful answers as well, in the coming months.  I’m excited about this journey and I look forward meeting you!
