Newbie from Midcoast Region of Maine

My name is Garret Getch and I am a Real Estate Agent in the Midcoast Maine area.  Where is that?  Basically from Portland up to Augusta and then from Brunswick/Harpswell over to Lewiston/Auburn with everything from Freeport, Yarmouth, Lisbon, Richmond, Bath, and Topsham in between.  Like most folks in Maine, I am actually a trans-plant from another state.  My father was in the military and we moved here from Iceland when I was in High School, but I mostly grew up down south.  I met my sweet heart here in Maine (a local girl from Harpswell) and we got married, bought a house in Lisbon Falls, and have started a family.  We have two little boys, with a little girl on the way in January 2019.  

My experience is that I am a real estate agent for the state of Maine.  I have loved helping people buy their home or sell their current house.  It has become a passion of mine to really guide first time home buyers in the process of getting that new home or helping people realize their dream of becoming an investor themselves.  I love being the guy who has all the connections and can really help people make it all happen.  Ironically I have helped people get into investing in real estate, but have never taken the plunge myself.  

A few months ago I was talking with one of my lenders about how I have a long term goal of getting into real estate investing and he pointed me to biggerpockets.com, I briefly checked out the site, signed up for a free account and basically did nothing else.  Fast forward to about a week and a half ago and I started working with a new investor client who has now started down his path of becoming an investor based on what he has learned on BiggerPockets, as a result he has inspired me to take up the challenge as a result I have now watched the SMART Webinar and listened to the audio books of "Finding and Funding Great Deals" and "How to Invest in Real Estate" and I have set up a meeting with Hard Money Lender and begun looking for and analyzing deals since last Wednesday.  I don't want to be one of those guys who gets excited about starting and never actually does anything.  Always learning but never doing.
