Fairbanks, AK - Knowledge and Capital (new to REI and BP)

Todd H.
Posted

Hello everyone,

My name is Todd and I am a dentist in Fairbanks, Alaska. I have been practicing for about 3 years now and I have really started getting into lots of podcasts and business books. My vision is to invest in real estate to build wealth and freedom. I don't want to always trade my time for dollars as I currently must do in my profession.

On a recent BP podcast, they talked about the triangle of success in real estate being Knowledge, Capital, and Hustle (hard work). They said you need at least two of the three to be successful. Honestly, being a landlord, managing properties, or renovating houses does not appeal to me. I would rather be more of a passive investor in real estate. So I think I'd like to work the Knowledge and Capital sides of the triangle. I can raise capital in my day job and use that to fuel real estate investments.

I know that this will require networking with those who will do the management/renovation side of things. But I’m not sure where to start. The real estate in Alaska is fairly expensive so I’ve been thinking about doing out of state investing. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start in my process of real estate investing?

Thank you!

Hi @Todd H.

I highly recommend meeting with @Jamie Rose the next time you are in Anchorage! Jamie, if the two of you meet Bryce and I would love to connect as well as we can be the hustle and knowledge (with your assistance on the knowledge aspect) sides of the triangle; as Todd stated the "management/renovation side of things".
