Introduction (Investor Level = 0.5)

Hello everybody!

MY name is John and I am originally from upstate NY. I graduated from University at Buffalo with a Civil Engineering degree. I currently live in Spring, TX (about 35 miles north of Houston), moved here in September 2015.

I have always been interested in investing in real estate but been too scared to make a move on it. In the past few months I read the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and it jump started me into seeking financial independence. I've always been interested in building/construction (my career path is Project Management) and I want to build a strategy for flipping SFR and acquiring rental properties along the way. When I first moved to Houston I found a job with a home builder as a construction manager to gain firsthand experience of the home building process.

My biggest hold up is suffering from paralysis by analysis. Instead of just jumping in and getting started, I feel the need to figure out every single detail and play it out in my mind before moving forward.

The Bigger Pockets community seems like a vital asset to getting started in the real estate investing world. I am looking forward to learning a lot, connecting with new people and gaining financial independence!

Hello! @John Janasiewicz

Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent. There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.

I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
