Moving south - Interested in multifamily house hacking

Hi all, love BP and have been having a great time learning all I can from podcasts and forums here.

Work has me and my wife moving to the south, around Louisiana. Schedule is flexible 14 days on, 14 days off. Looking to be within a 6 hour drive to Lafayette, LA. We are entry level, looking to start with a duplex, triplex or quad and live in one unit. We plan to live in for about a year before moving on and renting the entire place out. 

Would love to talk to others in the area while narrowing down the specific market to proceed with!
