Hudson, New York Real Estate Investment Property

Hello Bigger Pockets community. I'm interested in purchasing an investment property in Hudson, New York. I am considering a multi-family where I would rent out one unit long-term and use the other unit as an AirBnB short term rental.

Has anyone already invested in Hudson? I'm interested in any advice or perspective you could share about the process. I'm very familiar with the Brooklyn market (where I currently live) but this would be my first investment property upstate. Thank you for any advice or recommendations you could share.

@Amanda McAvena I work and grew up in the Hudson area and now live just across the river in Catskill (7 minute drive). Rents are high in Hudson and so are housing prices. There are a ton of AirBnB’s. I don’t know how well they do, but Warren St. is always packed with people. Hudson Amtrak station is the 3rd busiest train station in the Northeast, I believe, so there’s obviously no shortage of tourists to the area. However, the city semi- recently passed regulations on short term rentals and I think there are tax/registration fees that go along with owning one. I’ll see if I can find the article on it.
