Newbie from Charleston, SC
Hey everyone! I'm very excited to be here and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to continue learning about different investment strategies.
A little about me, my name is William Garcia. I got out of the Marine Corps after almost 12 years of service this past May and my wife, Cristal, and I decided to make Charleston, SC our next home. I'm currently finishing my degree in Supply Chain Management and I am considering double majoring and adding Commercial Real Estate. My goal right now is to learn as much as possible about different investments paths I can take and create a plan that will allow me to build assets.
I found bigger pockets by searching for a real estate audiobook to listen to during my commutes and I came across "The Book on Rental Property Investing" by Brandon Turner. It made so much sense and that lead me "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." That was about a month ago and since then I've been studying and listening to the bigger pockets podcast (just finished episode 70; side note Grant Kemp has a good thing going).
I'm from the Northern VA area and I was stationed there about 8 years ago. That is when we purchased a townhouse using a VA loan that is currently a rental that is cash flowing (by accident) and has about 105k in equity. My goal is to get my degree(s) and obtain a job that pays the bills and allows me to build capital while investing in rental properties/real estate.
Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to the opportunity of getting to know you and potentially working with you.

Charleston has an outstanding investor community. Let us know how we can help. There are several networking events coming up including happy hours, breakfast meetings, and a Saturday morning educational mastermind that may interest you. Most events are free or very low cost.
