Hello BiggerPockets from San Jose, CA

Hi Everyone,

First heard about this site from Anson Young's "Finding and Funding Great Deals" and then again from David Greene's "Long-Distance Real Estate Investing" books.  So decided to join and been listing to the BP podcast recently.  Thesw books are great and the podcast really re-enforces all the theories from both books.

I am from the San Jose, CA and want to get serious with real estate investing. Currently own a rental in Houston and looking to add more with the goal of eventually stop working for the "man". I do have my CA DRE license but haven't joined any firm. I have brought and sold a few properties and understand the transaction process. What I am hoping to develop is the skills needed to find some great deals. Will be attending some local REIA and put in practice some points from the books mentioned above.

My strategy is to accumulate properties through rehab.

Looking forward to participating and learning from the BP community.

@Peter Lam glad you found BP - one of the best sites out there for what you are looking to achieve. As you listen to the podcasts and dive into the forms, just remember there is no wrong way to make this work for you. Being licensed, you might be able to get some additional benefits through being "in" the game - but if you stay focused on expanding the portfolio in Houston you would be well versed in studying how to make money in that market vs. others.
