Why do you do REI? What is the underlying reason your doing this?

Thinking about dabbling in REI and I have always been a big fan of Simon Sinek and his Ted Talk. Obviously all of us want to make some money but what is your overall why? For me it is personal freedom and creating a stable/joyful home life for families.
