New to RE Investing - what type is best for me

Hi All

I am looking to diversify my investments, and one area I am considering is RE investing.

My situation

42yrs age with family, work as finance executive in small company

I currently am invested in stock and bond mutual funds - all types foreign, domestic, etc, as well as cash.

would like to get 50-75K into another asset class, as my current investments are pretty correlated.(its actually been a pretty good year!)

I dont need current income - Uncle Sam and Calif hit me with plenty of taxes as it is.

I have long time horizons for investments

Since all my other investments are quite liquid, liquidity is not important to me for this investment

Don't have time nor expertise to rehab and flip

Don't expect to be good at dealing with tenants, certainly not a large number of them. I suppose prop mgt can solve this problem

Am not "handy"

Enjoy researching and analyzing deals (this is part of my occupation)

OK - what type of RE investing should I consider? Do my criteria make me a poor fit? Should I just buy REIT shares in my IRA? I hope I can find something a bit more interesting than that.

Also any other suggestions for alternative investments that could introduce some non - correlated assets into my portfolio.
