Countries allowing foreign nationals to own, freehold property

Hello:

I am an American retiree who is presently living overseas in the Far East.    I sold my home in Florida about 20 months ago and have been heavily vested in precious metals since.     These assets will be used to purchase a permanent home abroad.     I don't want or need a loan.

I'm looking for some advice and/or information on experiences of expats in countries who have bought, 100% deeded, freehold property, (house and land), as a foreign national.      Which countries allow foreign nationals to own land?               I want property I can pass down to my children.

Moreover, I'm trying to avoid investing in long term property leases which typically depreciate in value over the term of the lease.      For example, long term leases are common for expats in countries like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Looking forward for an education on the above!
