Good afternoon! I am new to the forum but not to BiggerPockets. I have three of Brandon's books (The Book on Investing, Managing, and Investing with No/Low money down) and have been listening to his podcasts for about a year and a half now. ABOUT ME: I am a recent college graduate, member of the Army National Guard, and am very passionate about helping people. I have a BA in Catholic Theology from St. John Fisher College and work there now as a full time Media Support Specialist. I love my job but want to free up my time through real estate to work more with charities. I am the director of the Towpath Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps and love to travel around the country and world with the band. GOAL: Invest in small multifamilies in the suburbs/city area of Rochester and self manage until I can replace earned income with passive income from real estate (approx $50,000/yr) to move into a second career path. I do not own any property at this time but I've been doing my homework to be as prepared as I can be for when I get started. I want to own a property or two in the next 12 months. Cannot wait to get started!

Hello! @Jacob Thorp

Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent.

There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.

I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
