Newbie looking to buy and hold: want to be a landlord!

Hello everyone! I am from South Carolina. I live in a small town name Chester and look to help improve the area by buying some of the distressed properties and rehabbing & renting. I may even do a few flips. I have had an account with BP sense September of 2017 and now return with my first post and the hopes of learning more and connecting with more experienced people. Over the past year I have done a bit of research and educating myself and am now ready to move on. I'm looking to become a landlord with a few houses and a couple of multi-family units.  Presently I work full time at Wal-Mart as a Maintenance Supervisor and wish to be able to earn a self sustaining income through real estate so that I can retire my 9 to 5 job, be my own boss and have time to travel with my wife and enjoy life.
