New Member Intro - Take 2
Good afternoon BP members!
My name is Tommy. I live in Northern California currently, but I’ve had the pleasure of living in Southwest, East Coast. and in Europe for a time. Everywhere I’ve lived I’ve been interested in Real Estate but I’ve finally decided to look in to investing. Funny enough I married in to a family that does R/E development. Like many of us here, I read the Rich Dad books in the early 2000’s but I never did anything with the wealth of knowledge because there wasn’t something like BP. A big shout out to @Brandon Turner and @Josh Dorkin for all of the hard work and everyone in the community! Speaking of work I am in the tech sector so spending time on the computer is not problem for me as is writing scripts and apps to help make my property research easier.
Like I mentioned, I'm blessed to live in Northern California and bought my home at the low point in the market. At this point I'm looking to take out some capital and use it for investment purposes, hopefully in the next month. As is the case for many of us in California, investing here is cost prohibitive so I'm looking to invest in the Midwest and Southern US Specifically in major metro areas in Alabama. Two of my closest friends were born in Birmingham and Montgomery go figure. From the podcasts, I understand that values won't increase rapidly and I'm OK with that as I want to buy and hold and pass them on to my children. I like the idea of BRRR-ing (it is funny to say and type) with multi unit homes. Eventually I'd love to get in to apartments, mobile homes or even storage unit facilities but I have to learn to flip over, before I can crawl, before I can walk.
I’m looking forward meeting like minded, professionals in the community while growing my knowledge and my portfolio of properties.
Cheers!
Tommy

Hello! @Tommy Viscetti
Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.
I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.
First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:
https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52761-the-simple-guide-to-getting-started-on-bp
The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:
https://www.biggerpockets.com/blogs/5868/52743-im-new-to-bp-any-advice-would-be-appriciated
The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent.
There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.
I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
