New (soon to be) investor here!

Hello all,

My name is Joe, and I'm 26 years old currently working in the metro Detroit area. I have previously never thought of myself as a potential real estate investor, but I love the idea of not having to FEEL like I have to wake up and go to work everyday. Don't get me wrong, I love my day job, but I know that the job market can get rough and lead to layoffs. I want to have more control over my situation, and take things into my own hands.

So what brings me to BiggerPockets? It all started when I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad. The Assets vs. Liabilities section is what spoke to me the most. I had wanted to purchase a brand new car, but this book completely changed my mind. From there, I read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, but I didn't care for this book as much.

I began looking for podcasts on Spotify and finally found the Biggerpockets money and real estate investing podcasts. This was when I began gaining interest in the subject. The following Saturday, I picked up The Book On Real Estate Investing. That is when I identified House Hacking as my entry way to the real estate investing world.

From there, I've been analyzing properties and deals as I save up for my purchase. I wish to find a (2-4) multifamily unit, and live in it to satisfy the terms of an FHA loan. So here I am today.

Sorry if this was a bit long, but I'm really excited to be getting active on these forums. I believe that by making connections and networking with other like minded people, we can all benefit and learn to be the best investors we can be. I'm looking forward to finding my first real estate deal!

Thank you,
Joe
