Hi from Palo Alto, CA! New member looking for SFHs out of area

Hi everyone! My name is Tara. I'm a writer by trade but wanting to branch out into real estate. I have worked primarily in tech start-ups, in content and marketing roles (with a sheaf of stock options that ended up worthless). Most recently I moved into working in higher ed, specifically the GSB at Stanford University.

Home ownership in Palo Alto (where our kids attend school and where husband work) is near impossible, certainly for us it is. For a four bedroom to fit my family I'd be looking at 3-4M in my zip code. So for the time being we rent; every time I write the check it feels like a gut punch, but for now we are stuck. When eldest graduates in 2 years, we will move and are looking at NC as a destination. My husband is from NC, went to NC State, and has a lot of family there. I also have some family there. We are looking to buy one or two SFH for cash in the state, and though it makes me nervous to have rentals out of state, it makes me MORE nervous not to have any money in real estate. I would love to connect with all types of people and professions in NC.

It's great to meet everyone, I've been so amazed at the kindness and helpfulness of the people here. Palo Alto is not the friendliest place, and it's nice to see so many people from all over the country with such generosity of spirit. :)
