Newbie Introduction from Pittsburgh, PA

Hello all,

I am Dominic C. Dessler from Beaver County, Pittsburgh, PA.  I am 24 years old and currently work in the accounting department for a manufacturing company.  I started out working intense physical jobs and eventually put myself through school; I have just finished completing my associates degree in business administration, which is how I was able to work my way up and out of production.

When I was younger, my father owned three buildings in an urban area on the main street, which is where I grew up.  My dad has always had a passion for music and ended up teaching guitar lessons for a living out of one of the buildings. Unfortunately, teaching guitar lessons did not make my father rich; however, my dad was still able to provide more than enough for his family by renting out the storefront in one of the other buildings.  Seeing that my father was able to work his dream job everyday because of the income provided by his renters has had me interested in real estate investing for quite some time now.

Years ago, my uncle that now lives in Florida, let his younger brother live in his other house back home in PA.  Unfortunately, my other uncle grew older and more depressed and proceeded to neglect the house of his older brother for years.  Eventually, my older uncle told me that I could live in his house if I fixed it up after his brother moved out into a retirement home.  With that being said, I eagerly took my uncle up on his offer and spent all of last summer fixing the place up.  In October of last year, me and my sister moved into the house and I have been in the process of buying the house off of him ever since.

Within the past three months, I have completed my associates degree and have been spending the time that I used to use studying for class to research more about real estate investing.  I have also invested in a rental property with my aunt which we will be fixing up this summer to rent out next year.

Currently, my goal is to become a real estate wholesaler and eventually be able to leave my current job to do that full time.  I plan to use the profits and the knowledge of my local market from the process and utilize them to start flipping houses and invest in more rental properties.  I have been in the process of setting up my own business to do transactions under, and have been spending any of my free time reading books about real estate, setting up excel sheets, and getting to know my local neighborhoods better.  My current hurdle has been trying to put myself out there more and start networking to make the right connections so that I can streamline my process and be able to offer quality and honesty to any of my future clients.

Anyways, I started watching Bigger Pockets on YouTube and have been spending my extra time lately reading more of their books and articles.  I figured that putting myself out there to you guys here on the forum from the comfort of my own home would be the perfect way to start getting over this next hurdle along my journey and make a couple of new great friends in this new chapter of mine.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this.  I look forward to meeting all of you!
