Hi everyone,

My name is Richard Sanders and I'm new to Bigger Pockets. I live with my wife Amanda and our son Max in Goddard, Kansas. My son will turn 3 in October and we are both blown away how fast he is growing up! We love to travel and go to baseball games of all levels. My dream is to take Max to every major league baseball stadium by the time he is a teenager.

Recently my wife and I were talking about our long term investment strategy and we realized that focusing on our 401K alone seemed risky. I am the sole provider in our family and we want to be able to not only retire early but to leave our son and his family investments that will continue to provide cash flow for years to come. I started to do my research in investing and came along Bigger Pockets.

I've been hooked with the podcast as well as the forums. I have since read (audio book) Poor Dad Rich Dad and Cash Flow Quadrants. My wife and I are very eager to get started in investing with Real Estate and would like to get started sooner than later. We are both open to the idea of buying and holding as well as selling if at the time it makes sense.

We have looked into investing in Tax Liens first to get started with a good interest rate and hopefully (small chance) to gain a house for pennies on the dollar. We are also looking at buying our first home to fix and hold.

With all the different ways to finance properties and methods to go about, I'll be continuing my education within Bigger Pockets and books. I will be looking for classes and seminars as well to help further my education.

Thank you and I look forward to meeting with some of you at the next REIA monthly meeting in August!

Welcome @Richard D. Sanders III. I also have a three year old and live in the Goddard area. My wife and I have a 5 year old too, both girls. My wife also stays at home with the kiddos. There is a good group here in Wichita, sorry to steal your line @Jared Viernes. I’m not a huge believer in the ole 401k either, I have one to get the company match, but love to borrow against it any chance I get to buy single family rental homes. Feel free to reach out if you would like, I like chatting with other investors. Best of luck.
