Introducing myself as a new member to BP

Hello BP community! Just wanted to introduce myself, how I got the itch for real estate, particularly in the Texas market sense that is my initial desired launching point into real estate.

My name is Cody Niles and I have been serving overseas with my family as missionaries. The last 5 years were spent in Dubai and we have just recently moved to Nagoya, Japan (my wife’s home town). We have predominantly lived on a support raised income though I am a music performer (classic rock), and did this on the side to help offset the high living costs in Dubai.

As we moved to Japan, my thoughts have naturally been on what we will do, where will we live, and how do I provide for my family, both in the now and for the future. I remembered the book I read a few years back, Rich Dad Poor Dad, as I’m sure many of you are familiar with, and got me thinking of the possibilities of creating a passive stream of income to one, fund our mission here in Japan, and also set us up for the long run.

Obviously there are challenges with doing real estate from the other side of the world but I am extremely excited and driven to not “want” this to work, but “will” make it work. I am already trying to build a team in Texas, especially in the San Antonio-Austin area as I am from there, so if you have any suggestions of lenders, contractors, attorney to help set up a proper s corp, property managers, and anything else that would be good to have on a team.

Thank you BP for all the help and resources!

Cody Niles
