First time REI looking to network and learn from the BP community

I am a kitchen and bath designer based in Jacksonville, Illinois. My goal is to close two flip house deals and one multifamily property within the next year. I have a contractor partner who has 30 years of experience in my market who I plan to utilize for the flips and obtaining quick financing if need be.  I have been listening to Bigger Pockets (often listening multiple times to really grasp the process) and reading books on real estate investing for the last six months. I want to be more interactive here on Bigger Pockets so I can grow my knowledge and network with professionals. I bought the book on rehab costs by Brandon Turner because understanding the numbers seems to be one of the most important parts of Real Estate Investing. I have analyzed 70-100 deals from the automatic email list I received from a local real estate agent who I trust. I have put in 4 homerun offers without any luck thus far and to me that means keep analyzing and keep putting in offers. I would like to get together with a rock star appraiser to see what they value the most when analyzing properties.

I heard Brandon and David say "finding your why" is super important. It is about financial freedom and creating a life so I can be around for all the special moments with my future family. Real Estate is complex and to build a portfolio from nothing to something spectacular and being able to share my knowledge and to help others is my main goal. I had a very recent lose of life in my family someone who has had a major influence throughout my entire life. If I can become half the man he was I would really be accomplishing something great.

I appreciate Bigger Pockets for all of the info and support for the BP community. I became a Pro member to prove to myself I am committed to Real Estate Investing.

God bless.

Thank you,

Bryce
