Newbie Looking to get in to Rental Real Estate from Portland, OR!
My name is Eli Abramovitz and I am 26 years old. I was born and raised in beautiful Portland, Oregon and absolutely love it here. I have been surrounded by rental properties my whole life - my Grandpa was a carpenter and over the last 50 years he has acquired 5 single family rental properties in addition to owning his own house. He manages all of these by himself and all of these properties have been a bit older and required work, so I grew up helping him around the properties on small tasks and renovations here and there. At the time I was unenthusiastic about going to help him out because I just wanted to play with friends, but now it absolutely fascinates me.
I am very interested in getting in to the business of rental properties. Both single and multi-family rentals peak my interest. While I have a bit of a background there is still so much I know I can learn. I am looking to network with other like-minded people in the area and would love to hear from anyone and everyone!
I tried taking a free Landlord class in the area just to get my feet wet but it fell through so I decided to take action myself and bought several books of Amazon. One of which was The Bigger Pockets Book of Rental Property Investing…which brought me here!
Nice to meet everyone… and if you’re in the Portland area let’s get coffee!

congrats and welcome. Research is great, bigger pockets is awesome. Portland area can be tough to meet most of the standards you will read and hear about, but there are niches and deals to be found. If you don't have an agent I would be happy to talk more, or find one that deals with investors or better yet, invests themselves.
Best advice is find something and make that first purchase and learn from there. Maybe live-in duplex
