Newbie investor, southern CA. How to become a real estate agent?

Hi- my name is Elise. So happy I found BiggerPockets! I am interested in becoming a real estate investor but I am still in a very preliminary phase— acquiring knowledge and learning all that I can. I know want to  get my real estate license in Southern California but I am overwhelmed by the amount of choice in the study packages/classes- how do I choose? Is it better to physically enroll in a class or are the online classes just as effective?

Has anyone used the CAR.org online package?

All information appreciated. Thank you!
