College Student interested in house hacking (LA Area)

Hi everyone, my name is Desiree and i'm a senior in college right now. I read Rich Dad Poor Dad last summer and ever since I've been obsessed with the idea of cash flow through real estate investing. I'm primarily interested in buy and hold/rental properties.

My short term goal is to find a multifamily home near Los Angeles that I can house hack with my boyfriend right out of college. I graduate in December 2018 and want a place to live in immediately! My parents have offered to let me live at home to save up for a house, which I may or may not take, depending on how successful my search for a house to hack goes! I would accept their offer without hesitation if they lived a bit closer to where I'm going to work... (I'm looking at ~6 hours to drive to work and back home each day).

My long term goal is to have enough rental properties cash flowing enough to live off of by retirement age (earlier if possible).

My dream is to be financially independent and to be able to eat at any restaurant I want without having to worry about the bill.

I'm trying to learn as much as I can right now that is relevant to house hacking in the LA area, if you have any advice, hit me up!
