Hello!
My name is Rob Hambright. I am a senior undergraduate student at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. I studied Industrial and Systems Engineering and I will be graduating in May. I have accepted a full-time job offer and I will be working in the D.C. area, with my office located in Lanham, Maryland. I've enjoyed my time in school and I am now ready to join the workforce.
A few years ago I was introduced to BiggerPockets by a family member. At the time, I was involved in stock market investing with my individual account and I loved it. I knew almost nothing about real estate investing. After some research and lurking on the BiggerPockets website, I decided that I want to get involved with real estate investing as soon as possible. I started by reading some real estate investing books, listening to the BP podcast, and soaking up any information I could find about real estate investing.
Now that I am finished college, I'm ready to dive in. I like idea of buying and holding rental properties in order to create a stream of income that can eventually replace my full-time job. For the near future, I have been set on the idea of house hacking. I am interested in buying a duplex/triplex with an FHA loan. I will live in one unit while I rent the other units. Once I am ready to move out, I will keep the property as a rental property.
My goal is to make the house hacking a reality within the next couple of months before I start my job in June. I have gotten a late start but I will regret it if I don't try. I'd love to hear any tips, advice, or similar experiences anyone has. Or if anyone is nearby I'd love to meet!
Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction and I look forward to interacting with everyone on the forums!
