Allow me to introduce myself...
Hello, to all readers! My name is Greg Hollon. I am 22 and I am currently a senior at Texas A&M University majoring in construction science. Currently, I’m doing an internship in Fort Worth, Texas with a large commercial general contractor.
So a little bit more about myself. I’m from Ohio, but moved to Mansfield, Texas four years ago. It was right around this time when I seriously started thinking about my future. I didn’t see myself working until 60 at a desk job unhappy with my life. I knew that there had to be other ways to get out of “the rat race.” I started reading books searching for the answer, and somewhere along the line I stumbled into BiggerPockets. I realized immediately that this what I wanted to do, and since then it is all I think about. As I’m still in school, and have around two more years before I can really begin my real estate investing business (one year left of school and one year of saving cash).
I have really big goals that I want to achieve. I want my first property to hopefully be a quadplex house hack somewhere in Fort Worth, and then build my way up to large apartment buildings. Once I have enough income from my rentals to survive frugally – the goal is no later than 30 – I want to start a construction company that services residential investors. Residential construction has a reputation for being unprofessional, and having been in commercial construction for years already, I feel my advantage would be the fact that I would run my company the way I’ve known construction companies to be run. I would then take my profits from the construction business and put them back into my rental business.
I have a lot of plans, plans almost always change, and I’ve yet to do a single deal. I’m extremely green, and my only experience in construction comes from BiggerPocket’s podcasts and books, but I am extremely motivated to make this thing work. I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone!
