Getting Started! Central Valley California

Hello BiggerPockets!  My name is Daniel Burke and I live in Valley Springs, CA, which is about 30 miles east of Stockton.  My Brother Dustin Burke and I are gearing up to invest in real estate.  We have been networking and have made relationships with realtors, CPA's, and lenders.  We currently have contacts in Stockton, CA, Bozeman MT and Reno, NV.  It is incredible how just a few phone calls can get you in touch with the right people.  Our plan is to start off by flipping houses to fund buy and hold property purchases.  Today I sold my diesel pickup to get cash to get started.

I am still trying to find a good contractor in my home town.  This has been a challenge to say the least.  I was trying to start out by hiring a contractor to rehab my current residence and maybe develop a relationship for future deals.  I have called several contractors who either do not show up at all or just do not submit a quote after looking at my project.  I know i live about 40 minutes from Stockton so I am guessing these contractors have plenty of work close by and don't want or need to travel this far for work.   I will just keep trying till i find a good one.

On another note, I decided after listening to several of the newest podcasts to start from the beginning.  I am currently on #40 and I think I am addicted.  Just the other day after started a new podcast my 20 month old son said, "Quick Tip, Quick Tip!"  I have learned a lot from this site and the podcasts.  I look forward to networking and contributing to this site.
