Newbie Brit starting out on BiggerPockets

Hello all!

My name is Harry, this is my first post on BiggerPockets and I’m very glad to have been introduced to this site by Sam/Chris Miles @ IronOak FL.

What a great site!!! Josh and Brandon – I love the podcast, it is the perfect mix of two friendly guys having a chat with serious investment advice thrown in. Much better than most stuffy business shows.

Hmm, I want to keep this brief but I have so many thoughts… I am British, my wife French and we both live in Dubai, UAE since 2014.

Before moving to Dubai I was considering investing in the UK, shortly after I began educating myself and visiting local REI groups I got this job in Dubai and moved on very short notice. Since I was leaving the country with little knowledge I didn't think feel it practical to invest from afar so invested my initial pot @6 % with the consideration of sometime later I'll make the purchases.

Since then, changes to the buy-to-let regulations has made UK returns far less attractive, so for now the UK is off my radar (unless persuaded otherwise!). We are interested to invest in France too but I’ll leave that for another post.

I am most interested in (and educated in -thanks to BP) the USA market as clearly it is the most attractive. The financial opportunities offered by the lenders and the tax exemptions available is truly phenomenal and as such a large country, the opportunities blow my mind. 

In case Brandon writes - I have set up key-word alerts, looking forward to seeing what comes up.
