Lost Hope, Dreams Remembered
Hello everyone!
My name is Seth, I am 26 and from NE Ohio. I currently live in Austin TX but I will be moving back for family reasons. I have been working 9-5 jobs my entire life. The past 3 years have been spent in a call center which has caused me to be severely apathetic. It has hurt how I interact with others including my own wife. I used to be highly motivated in High School but upon graduation I blew a bunch of money and became "friends" with the wrong people.
Somehow recently I got into educating myself on Real Estate investing. I read the free book and BiggerPockets instantly hooked me. In the past 2 and a half weeks I have probably watched 40 podcasts. I know that sound crazy but this is possible due in part that my job asks very little from me and I have no children.
I have always had a love for Real Estate hidden within. I used to play The Sims as a kid and only built houses, I was along with my mom for searching for a home to buy twice and I loved joining her. I wanted to be an architect when I was in High School and was part of a drafting class that I took for 2 years so I have a decent background on how to draw a blueprint. My grandmother also flipped two houses. I really saw the power of real estate when she sold a mobile home on 2 acres in SC for ~$100,000 profit. (Luckily she sold just before The Meltdown.)
I have taken many steps recently to enhance my adult life such as getting on a budgeted meal plan, not wasting time on video games and Netflix and simply waking up early for a good start to the day. Things I haven't done in nearly a decade and it feels really good. I have been able to boost my credit score significantly while working a day job which should help me along my path.
My goal for year one is to fix and flip so have a decent bankroll for further projects and not need to use expensive money. My wife will be working full time and living with my mother in law who needs help. After year one and I have the money I will BRRRR into a high down payment purchase for Quadplex that needs some work in Columbus. I can house hack this property and still have reserves from my previous projects. This give my wife ample time to find another job. I will continue to BRRRR as well as house flip any good deals I can find for the foreseeable future with the ultimate goal to syndicate to either buy or build a 100-150 unit apartment complex selling the my portfolio in the process. I can see owning a complex snowballing into something far larger.
I don't want it "all" but I would like to live free and provide for my wife so that she can start her dream business of animal rehabilitation. I want to provide everything for my future children and for those in need. I don't want to be just another middle class family where another generation has to struggle. I want to be able to take my family to the hospital without worrying about the bill. I want to be able to take a vacation when and where I want and have story that my children can respect.
TL;DR
I want to make my impact in this world and Real Estate will be my vehicle to do so. I will succeed regardless of any failures.
