Hey guys, Just starting dipping my toe into the real estate investment world. I'm currently at ground zero, learning and networking as much as I can before I make my first move. I work full time and have started a small family living in suburban Long Island. I'd like to slowly create a portfolio of properties both local and long distance and I'm not concerned with immediate returns (although always welcome), I'm more looking to create and build wealth over time. The only experience I have so far is purchasing my first co-op(that I lived in) as a short sale at $154k, rehabbing it myself for around $10k and selling it a year later for $230k which allowed me to buy the home I'm in today. It was a 3 story walk up and we had just gotten pregnant. I guess you can say that's when I got bit by the bug and said to myself that wasn't so bad at all. Of course I learned about capital gains that tax year and man did that sting. I feel like I took a chance, got knocked down, and now I'm ready to get back up and move forward with more knowledge. I'd appreciate any and all knowledge anyone has to give and I myself will help anyone out with whatever I can. Thank you guys in advance and I look forward to being part of the community.
