Hello from a Newbie in Central Illinois!

Hello all! I'm a photographer, SAHM, and have no experience in real estate... but my husband and I are building a new home (to be completed in 6/2018) and we've decided to rent out our current home rather than sell it. I've been listening to a ton of BP podcasts, started reading articles on here, and am getting excited about how this new adventure in real estate investing may help us reach retirement sooner!

Looking forward to connecting with others in the Champaign-Urbana area who have words of wisdom to share :)

Allyson

Welcome to the club @Allyson Sanborn! BP definitely has great education and tools for helping people get started.

There's a small number of real estate meetups where you can learn and network with others. These are the pitch nights the gurus put on but more networking events with free education. I know of them in Bloomington, Peoria, Chicago of course, and I run the one in Champaign urbana. Check it out on Meetup.com and search real estate and you should find the different groups around you.
