Just Starting in Texas

We're the K family, and are very excited to have found this site. We came across it while doing some research on Rich Dad, whose books motivated us--although now it seems that's not the right path to get where we want to be.

Mrs. K has a career she enjoys but doesn't like being limited by it. Mr. K is a stay-at-home dad. We're both ready to use our time to develop a niche in real estate investing and obtain more financial freedom and less job dependence for ourselves and our kids.

Mr. K has heard some good things about mobile homes and lease options and is interested in learning more about those. Mrs. K wants a beach house in Galveston that can be rented and also used for personal vacations. (Not looking for specific property in this thread, though general tips are welcome!)

When Mrs. K isn't working, she wants to spend all of her time with the kids, so her role is going to be mainly what she can do from home. Mr. K is the one traveling for seminars and who will be more involved in out-of-home activities.

BTW...Lease/options are tricky in Texas so please consult with an attorney about the nuances of executory contracts.
