Real Estate Exam preparation

I might have asked this already, but I am trying to see if anyone out there has a suggestion on how to study for the exam more efficiently. A lot of people tell me to go to crash courses that last 6 months, other tell me to buy books to study from, others tell me to buy online programs to study from. I’m just a but confused, does it really take 6 months to study for the exam? If it doesn’t which way would it be the most efficient, and less time consuming? Thank you for your time!
