Hello from sunny San Diego

Hello BiggerPockets! this introduction is for both a friend of mine and me. While having some beers (like many good ideas start) we both agreed that our 9 to 5 life was not going to cut it and decided to look for something else, helping each other to have us accountable if we slacked off. After researching a lot about what our next step will be, we stumbled upon bigger pockets some months ago, and after listening to some of the podcasts and watching some videos, we were hooked!!

I am a civil engineer and he is a real estate agent, both working and living in San Diego, CA. Our real estate goal is to do at least one deal next year (so far the BRRR strategy sounds promising) and to have one rental property each, with the goal of building a portfolio of multifamily properties in the next 5 years (yes, we want to be financially independent soon!) We want to grow our knowledge on multifamily properties and intelligently invest and grow.

In 3 years, we would like to be where some of you are now. Hopefully teaching others how to invest and become financially free!! To be able to do that we will have to 10X it, but with some of your help and research, I think we will be capable of achieving our goal. We want to learn and mimic the best! Our next step is to find the right mentor for what we are trying to accomplish.

@Lumi Ispas, thats a good idea, at the moment we are in the process of  figuring out how to get the down payment and cash reserves for any unexpected repairs, etc

@Lane Kawaoka, exactly, the money thing was an eyeopener, when I realized that i was going to reach my earning potential too soon in my career. I actually sometimes do excel calcs for my friends (budgeting, expenses, etc) for free (and for fun), haha so might as well put that skill to good use
