Jason Williams - Newbie from Belton, Missouri

Hi everybody.  I'm so excited to be a part of the group and the possibilities of real estate investing.  

My name is Jason Williams and as of the last almost 15 years I've been a Mechanical Engineer in manufacturing. I've done work for defense contractors and am now in aviation. I've always had an interest in real estate investing but as the years pass the desire to make it happen has become a burning one. My overall goal is to get enough ROI in my real estate investing to give me and my wife more freedom and time in life through passive income generated from a mix of single and multi family residences. The corporate grind has lost it's luster and it's now time to start working towards living life rather than living to make another person's life enriched through my labors.

Recently, I've had a need to become educated in real estate investing and to date have read most of the Bigger Pockets books as well as the Rich Dad series.  In doing so the resulting education has opened my eyes to things that seem like hidden secrets of the wealthy ("Tax Strategies for the Savvy Investor" is the best).  To me that is so very exciting.  Along with the Bigger Pockets readings I've become a big fan of the Podcast as well as the Youtube channel.  In addition, to these I've also become immersed in the teachings of Robert Kyosaki and his team, Tai Lopez, Grant Cardone, and more recently Gary Vaynerchuk.  All very successful individuals that have done amazing things in business and that is hyper-motivating for somebody needing to do something else in life.  That something else is in fact real estate investing.

As mentioned above I had a need to become educated and that need came with the renting of my first single family home located in the Northern Kansas City, Missouri area.  My wife and I were forced to rent out my old house when we found an amazing property in the farm lands outside of Belton, Missouri that we couldn't pass up. With that came the responsibility of learning how to do it right and not get into a bad situation.  To date that is our only property but we have plans to purchase on an exponential plan to get us to our goal within 8 years.  My current real estate goals are to build a good local network through meet ups and the forums here.  

As my education has progressed the possibilities of what is available are amazing to me and I can't believe that I've waited this long to get started.  Now that I have I'm super pumped to make things happen and to meet others and learn what I can.
