Aiming to Start House Hacking in Atlanta

Hello Bigger Pockets community! This is my first post.

My wife has some experience in real estate investing and introduced me to Bigger Pockets (BP) a few months ago. We're watching the live webinars and the BP shows on YouTube, reading the same real estate investing books, etc.

And we have the same goals. My wife and I would like to use real estate investing to

  1. fund our retirement, and
  2. help one of quit a day job (eventually both of us) so that we can live together.

She lives in Florida, I live and work in Atlanta. We're both Canadian and moved to the US a few years ago. We're learning a lot from each other and from BP, and we're pretty lucky to have each other and to have found BP.

We'd like to house hack, so we'd like to get something like an in-law suite, or a 2, 3, or 4 unit multi-family residential property. We're hoping to buy something under $200k, in Atlanta. We think it might be February or March 2018 when we're ready to make our purchase. And we haven't yet found a real estate agent in Atlanta - feel free to reach out if you know someone that might be interested in helping us purchase our first property and get us moving towards our long term goals.
