real estate newbie needing advice

Hi, my name is Cecile Gonzales, I'm a nurse in Jacksonville FL.  I read a book about real estate, and since then it kept me interested.  I am really bent on trying it out but I don't know how to start.  I'm taking courses now in the hopes of understanding real estate better.  I must admit I find it challenging to learn a different craft, I'm trying as hard as I can to understand the whole picture.  I feel like my brain is all over the place.  I'm not sure whether to go on and finish my course so I can sit for an exam for sales associate or should I just start even without a license.  I wanted to start putting out bandit signs and then I found out that it's not permitted here in Jacksonville.  I also read about wholesaling as somehow being illegal if you don't have a brokerage license. I'm really interested in this business, I would appreciate all your inputs and wisdom on this.  If anyone is from Jacksonville who practices real estate investing I would appreciate any advice that you can offer.  I'm concerned that Florida might be stricter on their rules.  Thanks in advance.
