BP and RE investing newbie! W/ focus in military housing.

My name is Edward and I have always been thrilled by the idea of owning property. I am a newly commissioned 2d Lt and my goal is to grow enough financial freedom, for myself and my partner, after my military career, or as a financial backup for my family in the case something were to happen while serving. I found out about BP after listening to their podcast #251! I am interested in investing in properties near military bases. I am hoping that by being part of this market (the military life) it will enable me to make smarter investments that will ultimately allow me to provide servicemen with better and fair housing. Currently looking at good opportunities near Columbus, MS. If anyone is knowledgeable in this focus area or knows someone who could help me get started I would greatly appreciate any help, tips and advice! @Edward Turos I've looked into military base adjacent apartments but have never pulled the trigger.  It seems to be a little bit of a mixed bag.  Rent collection is easy, the tenant base is great, and I wouldn't even care about the whole lease-break-if-deployed thing.  Sure it's a concern but that wasn't what has led me (so far) to not pull the trigger.  I know where I invest the AFB near there has gone through peaks and valleys.  And that largely depends on the need for a certain type of transport airplane.  I have no idea what the next congressional budget cycle will hold, I have no idea how that could increase or decrease the number of people on the base, etc.  That makes me (as an investor) nervous.

That said, you'll know far more about the individual bases and can probably assess the trajectory of what's going on in Columbus, MS.  As an "outsider" it just was just hard for me to wrap my head around given that the base ecosystem largely functions like a "single employer" (if you will) for the micro-area.
