Hello! My name is Justin Carpenter and I'm a new investor living near Des Moines, Iowa.

I started studying real estate investing about a year and a half ago and after a little while of studying I found biggerpockets. I read the forums and listened to the podcasts and finally made my profile.

After all the studying, my wife and I finally pulled the trigger a couple months ago.

We used the VA loan to buy a 4 unit apartment building for 284k, which we are currently house hacking. We have a 25 year loan and each unit rents at $750 with amazing tennats. We used no money down and the seller paid all closing costs so we ended up receiving a $5800 check from our escrow company. With that our first mortgage was not due for two months so we got to collect our first two months rent without having to pay the mortgage.

We feel extremely lucky and grateful about this deal and it's only made real estate that much more exciting.
