Hello BP Community!

My name is Matt and I am a new real estate investor from Northeast Pennsylvania (Wilkes-Barre suburbs). I was born and raised here and continue to call it home. I live here with my wife of 10+ years and our 2 boys, ages 8 and 6.

My dad was a contractor for many years while I was growing up. Back in the early 80's when I was born, we lived in a duplex (which, now that I look back, we were house hacking) while my dad was building our new primary residence which we moved into a few years later. During many summer months when I was off from school I remember my dad often bringing me to his job sites and having me assist with various little tasks. So starting at a very young age I had an interest in construction and real estate in general.

Fast forward to 2005. I graduated from college and bought my first primary residence. It was a foreclosure that I was able to purchase well below market value. This was also about the time when the house flipping shows started gaining popularity on network TV and I recall watching HGTV literally 24/7. Were were able to put some work into it and force some appreciation which we cashed in on 5 years later. I have been hooked ever since.

Fast forward to today. My primary area of interest is buy-and-hold and my focus would be to find BRRRR deals. I work in IT by trade and I feel that my strong analytical and process-driven skill sets will help me along the way. I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge already by listening to every single podcast and webinar, many multiple times, and reading many of the BP published books and articles.

My short-term goal is to purchase my first property (a duplex) by the end of 2017. My long term goal is 35+ units that cash flow $200/mo and provide 20% CoCROI. This will help me achieve financial freedom and allow me to spend more time with my family rather than attached to a cubicle.

I look forward to meeting other like-minded individuals within the community with similar goals. Also, I'm looking forward to networking with other investors, lenders, agents, contractors, property managers and other professionals who can help me in my journey. This is truly a great place and I'm so glad to be a part of it.

Cheers!
