Newbie from Central Jersey

Hello! I am currently living in Elizabeth, NJ and looking to start this real estate investing journey.

My husband and I came across a great opportunity a few years ago and we bought a 2 family house in a short sale. At the time I had gone back to finish my BA, so we were newlyweds, on one income and having a tenant to pay some of the mortgage was really helpful. When my husband was offered a job in Abu Dhabi we took the big leap and lived abroad for 3 years while we rented out the entire house. That made us realize that there was something to this real estate investing thing and maybe we should look into that when we moved back. Well, we moved back and we took some time to get some things in order but now we want to jump in. Getting on BP is a step in that direction. We're not sure if we should flip or buy and hold but I'm ready to learn what I can. I'm a little discouraged by taxes in NJ but we've always worked in the city so Central Jersey is home and we think there could still be some opportunities. I started reading some forums but I'm not sure where to find a glossary so I can learn some of these terms!

Looking forward to learning from you all!
