New Member - Aspiring "House Hacker"
Hey BiggerPockets Community,
I just recently joined BP! I am 26 years old, living/working in PA, and looking for my first property to purchase. I am interested in "house hacking" - finding a duplex or triplex, using traditional bank financing for the purchase, living in one unit, and renting out the other unit(s) in order to supplement or completely cover my living expenses. I have saved up a small amount of cash for a down payment, have good credit and a full-time job of 2+ years. I definitely can't afford to pay top dollar in my area, but I am hoping that with time, patience and networking, I can find a deal that works with my goals. I would love to hear about any similar experiences, success stories, or advice that BP members can share.
Thanks in advance!
-Samantha

That is a great way to get started, @Samantha Miller, how are you looking to finance your MFH? Are you looking to do a FHA, conventional 5% (with owner occupied) or a full 20% down payment?
