Introduction, Networking, and flipping.
Hello BP!
My name is Darren Day and I'm a Band Director from Valparaiso, IN (I actually teach in Knox, IN but live in Valpo). Recently, my beautiful 3yo daughter started pre-school and my budget is wrecked! So, I'm looking to the Real Estate world for financial freedom for myself and my family. Real Estate has been on my radar for years and I finally have motivation to get started! I have some cash and looking to start with flipping. I've read J. Scott's books on flipping and rehabbing, I've read B. Turner's books on rentals and low and no money, and I'm super fired up after reading "The 4 hour work week" by Tim Ferris (that guys is a freak of nature!). I'm ready to find some deals and network with locals.
Where are people investing in Valparaiso, IN?
Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Hey Darren! Welcome to BP! I'm originally from Hobart but just recently moved to Chicago. Now I'm looking to flip in NWI and I'm pouring over property every single day. If you're looking to flip, the deals are few and far between, unfortunately. They're not impossible but they aren't easy to find. You'll have to be well connected and have many places to get your properties from. Hammond is a pretty cheap place to get some rentals and possibly some flips. Laporte area is a good place to get some flips. That's not an "end-all-be-all" statement, but more as a starting point. You're going to have to get good at running some numbers, talking to realtors and talking to contractors (if you're not familiar with construction). Most importantly, continue the REI education! Welcome to BP. It's a great community here
