New to Real Estate and BP. Located in Northern Virginia.
Good afternoon BP family
My name is Marcus McVay, I am 26 year old college student living in northern virginia. Birthplace is Dayton, Ohio and I have moved from east to west coast since I was two years old mainly because my dad was in the military. I discovered BP because I was interested in investing in something bigger than stocks and my 401k. I started saving up to become a homeowner in the near future and that simply was not enough for me, I wanted more than just a mortgage to pay every month till I paid it off or moved to something bigger. During my research I came across Bigger Pockets and immediately became fascinated with everything I was reading. So I figured why not sign up, do my due diligence in knowing more about real estate. As you can see I am here, ready to learn, already using the calculator, watched some videos, and will be purchasing books soon.
My goal with Real Estate is to have a large portfolio of properties generating income while still working my regular job. I want to one able to pay off my student loan, and live comfortably. I think like most people I am starting off with little money from the jump. In about six months to a year I will looking to invest in my first property, more than likely outside the NOVA ( Northern Virginia) area. After looking on Zillow, Trulia and other sites the Virginia Beach and Norfolk area has plenty of multi family homes I can start with. Once I have become successful with the first property, of course, I will seek to invest into my second property, then from there I would like to add a few properties per year to my list. I hope this doesn't sound to unrealistic I tend to make unreasonable expectations sometimes. I look forward to meeting everyone, good luck to all the newbies like me, remember to keep striving.
